AJHorn 5.0 innovations
At first glance it seems, that only a few things where changed with regards to Version 4.1. This has the reason, that we changed less the design and graphics, but more the possibilities for the calculation of new enclosure types. The new features of AJHorn Version 5 are unique and bring the user nearer to the optimum.
- Because of the wish of many users we included the tractrrix funktion for the simulation of tractrix horns (spherical horns). The ASCII contour list shows the area (or height or radius) as a function of the length (explicite description of the tractrix function!).
- Vented rear chamber (the rear chamber of the frontloaded types can be a bassreflex-chamber). This type of enclosure is used by many classic and newer horns to improve the bass performance. Now AJHorn can optimize these types, too.
- Helmholtz absorber (Resonator chamber at the throat). This chamber decreases, right tuned, the sound pressure of the horn (or transmissionline) in a particular frequency range. It erases bad resonances to achieve a smoother, less coloured sound.
- Any driver position along the horn shape selectable. With this version of AJHorn the position of the driver needn't to be only at the beginning of the horn, but also at a selectable position inside the horn shape. This construction is used intentional at transmissionlines to linearize the soundpressure frequency response. Unintentional, but not neglectable, this design is used in some frontloaded horns, where the front chamber is as small as the driver cone and the driver radiates the sound direct but unsymetric in the horn throat (see manual Chapter 2).
- Crossover network with up to 30 pieces. We do not recommend to use these all. Now the user has more possibilities, e.g. two Notch-filter (parallel-RCL-circuits in series to the driver) or 4th order filters with two impedance linearizers.
- The driver (loudspeaker chassis) can be loaded separately. Now it's very easy to examine the influence of various drivers in the same horn. In the info field the user can type in for example the driver name.
- Start- and stop frequency of the simulation and frequency resolution. With these parameters the simulated frequency range can be wider or smaller. The performance of the simulation ist then more effective.
- Resolution of the contour output. You need a more detailed resolution of the contour text file (e.g. for the usage as input data in CAD-systems)? AJHorn 5.0 has the possibility to define the number of contour points (area, height, radius of the horn shape as a function of the length).
- Sizeable output windows. This can be done very simple with the mouse cursor.
- Frequency-axis scaleable.
- Full compatibillity to with AJHorn3.x and 4.x builded HRN-files.
